Question:
Why are NFL games on different channels like FOX, NBC, etc. Shouldn't they all be in the NFL Network?

They do it to number one create more revenue. Number two so that fans can choose to watch different games or team's.I live in the Midwest. So if I'm watching a game on CBS and it's a blow out I can just flip over to FOX and YES for the people who live on the East Coast. Also if you're a fan of an AFC team usually it's on CBS and NFC is on FOX.But NFL network has only been around for ten years and have only had live games since the 2006-2007 season. But I do think that they should have at least one Sunday game on. Especially because for the day games you only tend to get games from the teams in your time zone. For example if you're a fan of the Cardinals and you live on the east coast you would rarely get to see them play.

There are jut too many games going on at 1 pm eastern time and Nfl network wouldn't be able to how all those games at once. This is why there is fox nbc and etc to show all the nfl games locally so that people in a certain area can see their local team play.

All networks have the right to bid on carrying games when the contracts expire. The NFL Network even though it is NFL affiliated does not have the capital to bid high enough. Plus, not everyone gets the channel. The other networks everyone has access to and can provide the billions of dollars the NFL usually garners.

Fox, CBS, NBC all pay for the rights to air NFL games. So the NFL makes more money by outsourcing the games.

The NFL has multi billion dollar contracts with CBS, FOX & ESPN to broadcast their games. Currently, the terrestrial television networks CBS ($3.73B), NBC ($3.6B) and Fox ($4.27B) — as well as cable television's ESPN ($8.8B) — are paying a combined total of US$20.4 billion[1] to broadcast NFL games as per the current contract that ends in 2013. From 2014 to 2022, the same networks will pay $39.6 billion for the same broadcast rights.[2]

The NFL is pretty much selling the games to different TV stations. For instance sometimes if you live in Miami, the Dolphins might be playing but the only game that is on tv is the Cowboys playing the Giants for example because that tv station wanted to play that game.
