Lessons learned...
1--Live by the thug, die by the thug.
2--You can take the player out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the player.
What's really a shame is that we're not talking about two semi-skilled players who have to resort to this sort of crap in order to stay in the league. Burfict and Pacman are both tremendously talented players who really don't need the cheap stuff to excel in the NFL....and while it's nice when those guys are intimidating the other team, you have to know sooner or later, they are going to pull a bonehead move in a critical situation, and having them on the roster is going to come back and bite their team in the @$$.
Eventually, despite their skill levels, they will wear out their welcome on any team they play for, because at some point the team will decide that the risk of having them on the roster far outweighs the benefits they bring to the team.
Being here in Pittsburgh (Steelers win...Yoi and double yoi) I saw this same sort of thing played out with the Penguins and Matt Cooke. Cooke is a pretty darned talented player...tenacious checker, outstanding penalty killer, and he's got a decent scoring touch. But he is also one of the dirtiest players in the NHL, and eventually the Pens decided that his contributions to the team weren't worth the problems his cheap play caused, and they cut ties with him.
