The only two who count are Number One :

Roger Staubach (he is the face of the franchise first and foremost) any true Texan knows this! His best career high for a season is better than Troy Aikmans :

Staubach - 1979 - 3,586 yards, 27 touchdowns with 11 interceptions (6 pro bowls)

Roger scrambled for 2,264 yards during his 11 year career. Drafted by the cowboys in 1964 (the year I was born ... ) he didn't play until 1969 due to his military commitment. The man was a 27 year old rookie who didn't get to play for 4-5 years. Imagine 4 more years of passing/running from this NFL great!

versus

Aikman - 1992 - 3,445 yards, 23 touchdowns and 14 interceptions (6 pro bowls)

Troy couldn't run to save his life.

(Troy Aikman has 10,242 more passing yards than Roger Staubach so I give him credit where it's due.)

He's still number two. Here's why :

Roger won 2 and lost 2 super bowls. (He didn't play in 5) His years of service in the military included 1 year in Vietnam as a supply officer and several more years in the states finishing his commitment while playing for various service teams.

How can that be Rogers fault that he was on 2 losing super bowl teams regardless of the missed pass by hall of famer Jackie Slater. (Dallas fans let that go! I'm serous (O_O)

He and the team (get it? ... the team?) lost super bowls to other teams that were arguably better while the Troy Aikman led Cowboys were superior to the teams they beat in the super bowls they won. That's not Rogers fault.

Don Meredith was good. Not in their league.

Danny White. He was ok.

Craig Morton. (cough)

Tony Romo. (laughing)

Eddie Lebaron. (who?)

Garey Hogeboom. (snoring)

Quincy Carter. (Being highly biased ... I will abstain from voting on this one)

Ryan Leaf. ( Where do I start? Never mind ... it would be a waste of typing)

Any true Texan knows that Roger Staubach is the face of the franchise.

Not Troy Aikman. (a great qb ... no disrespect intended)

Any true Texan knows that Tom Landry is the greatest coach to ever coach them.

Not! ... Jimmy Barry Johnson Switzer ... (laughing)

Staubach, despite playing 20 years earlier and starting to play in his late 20s because of military duties his numbers are much better than Aikman. Who knows if he would have won a couple more rings coming to the league 5 years before.

Record as starters. Staubach: 85-29, Aikman 94-71. It's not even close.

Aikman was a good leader but I never saw a guy who could change a game after trailing by a significant difference. He has about 10 4th quarter comebacks which is sad.

Staubach was a general on the field and one of the most clutch QBs to play the game, capable to bring his team back to victory at any time. His 17 last 2 minutes winning drives say it all.

1. Roger Staubach.

2. Roger Staubach.

3. Roger Staubach.

I am a displaced Denverite and watched him make a fool out of Craig Morton in the 1978 Super Bowl. Staubach played college ball at Annapolis and didn't play pro until his military obligation was completed.

No, you quite left Phillip Rivers out. Rivers has thrown probable the main TD passes interior the NFL. in the experience that your going off of merely THIS YEARS overall performance, how do you stick Kerry Collins, the the quarterback of the only undefeated team very final, 2 below rookie Matt Ryan and tied with a further rookie in Flacco. regardless of if Collins would not have the exceptional stats, if which you will win ---which you would be able to win. additionally, you have gotten Romo, who has been out for 3 weeks in forth. Are you confident you weren't staring at reruns of a till now season on NFL common on a similar time as you made this checklist. a million. Kurt Warner 2. Phillip Rivers 3. Eli Manning 4. Kerry Collins 5. Brett Farve 6. Drew Brees 7. Aaron Rodgers 8. Jay Cutler 9. Ben Rothlisberger 10. Peyton Manning

I find it hard to believe that some of these fools would put Troy ahead of Roger. Lord have mercy...

To correct Phillip... Roger did go to 5 SB's. He just didn't start in the first one. Craig Morton did. Which brings me to my second point, Morton was a fine QB for Dallas. Also, it was Jackie Smith who dropped the sure TD pass in the SB against the Steelers. Not Slater.

My short list...

Staubach

Aikman

Morton

White

Meredith

I won't put Romo on an all time list til he gets a few more years or better, whichever comes first.

Only need two:

1. Troy Aikman

2. Roger Staubach

Aikman won more SB's than Staubach, that's why he's #1. Nobody else on this list qualifies.
