Question:
Would the Broncos still be doing better under Plummer this year instead of Cutler?

This seasons start is worse than any the Broncos had under Plummer. And last year the Broncos were a respectable 7-5 when they pull Plummer for Cutler. Is Cutler truly ready? The Packers hadn't won at Denver is a long time, and at the end of the game I think Plummer and his bootleg ability would have been able to get that ball in the endzone, with Cutler you get someone who missed a receiver who was open after his cut and then settles on the next play for going for the tie instead of the win. Obviously Denver has to go with Cutler, but would they have been better off staying with Plummer at least 1 more year for Cutler to get more ready?

I don't think that the Jury is out on Cutler yet. If Plummer was compared to Cutler now I would have to take Plummer. People forget that the season before last year Plummer had a good season. It was the playoff loss to the Steelers that made the Broncos go in a different direction. Plummer makes dumb plays at key points in the game. Cutler looks like he can manage a game but cannot do anything more at this point.

The loss lastnight was just as much on the coaches and their play calling as it was Cutler. Who the hell calls a QB draw with 22 seconds left when play action has been working all night long? If Shanahan would have give Jay a run/pass option he would have had a much better chance of getting 6.

Cutler is young and certainly needs to develop. But I have been very impressed by his play this year.

The Broncos have similar problems this year as they did last year. They're moving the ball all over the field but can't finish the job in the red zone. The big difference this year is that the D can't stop ****. Cutler will be fine, so will the Broncos (after a bit of rebuilding)

no way. plummer does have a good winning percentage in the past but cutler is going to be one of the best QBs in the next couple years. starting plummer this year would not have gotten cutler ready enough to play next year too. denver just needs to suffer for one season while he takes over and makes his mistakes. he has one of the strongest arms in the NFL and he was deadly accurate in last nights game. his problem is still that he is young and learning about the game, but he will quickly catch on and learn how to get the ball to the open man as fast as anyone.

Considering the talent Denver has I think it wouldn't make much difference this year. Cutler has a lot to learn but can make the same plays that Plummer can make plus he has a stronger arm.

Besides, Cutler is their future and there was no need in wasting valuable years on a older qb who wouldn't do much better under the same circumstances.

I don't think it would really matter. Their defense is horrible. There at the bottom as far as rush defense and seem to have a problem rushing the passer. I agree with you that they should not have pulled Plummer last year and maybe should have even kept him as insurance in case something happened to Cutler. I think Cutler will be a pretty good pro, but in order to do that I think he needs to be out on the field and learn from his mistakes. The more he plays the more successful I think he can be.

I never understood why Shannahan wanted Jake Plummer in the first place. I was fan of plummer earlier in his career but his Denver days never compared to what he accomplished with no team at Arizona.

Yes, Cutler is not a tier 1 or tier 2 qb. Plummer was a tier 2.
