Who thinks it's bullcrap that Wade Phillips said "The better team lost?"?

I know this is kind of out of date, but after the Cowboys loss to the Giants, Wade Phillips, (Dallas head coach) said "The better team lost." He believed they outplayed the Giants.

Are you serious? You were the better team? I guess the better team drops catches, gets stupid penalties, lets and other team score in 46 seconds (which was at the end of the half) and let's the other team score more points. NOT!

The Giants were the better team Wade. The better team always wins. Quit being a poor sport and just accept the fact that you lost.

It is a little late but yea, that statement is one of the dumbest lines ever in sports (Matt Leinart said that crap after Texas won the championship game with Vince Young).



I guess the statement really means "this team is more talented but we lost anyway", which basically means you: A. didn't execute (stupid penalties, dropped passes), B. got "outcoached" (another overused cliche but really means didn't make neccessary adjustments to win), C. didn't "make enough big plays" (the 2nd most overused cliche in football, really means didn't tackle Amani Toomer b4 he ran 54 yards down the field for six, didn't stop the Giants scoring drive in the last 46 secs of the 2nd half) or (my favorite) D. ALL OF THE ABOVE.



Hmm....last I checked, the better team is usually adept in execution, discipline, and versatility. The Giants were like that for 4 straight games and that won them a Super Bowl.

I think they need a better coach than wade Philips I was hoping it would be Norv turner. Norv knows how to deal with Jerry Jones since he has worked with the Cowboys before. Jerry Jones likes to take over the team. He like to run the team. Many coaches would rather run the team which I agree with Jerry Jones should let the coach run the team. That is part of the reason they have had so many coaches lately. They should of kept Jimmy Johnson but Jimmy Johnson left partly because Jerry wouldn't let him run the team the way he wanted too. Wade Phillips is in for a rude awakening. I was kind of hoping that they hired Bill Cowher but he has indicated that he wants to take at least a year off from coaching plus he would want more money than Jerry Jones would be willing to pay. Jerry Jones paid Bill parcells a lot of money and he let him run the team but since it didn't produce a super bowl I am sure he is going back to his old ways.

Yes, because the Giants played a whole lot better than the Cowboys. Being the head coach, those words should not even have come out of his mouth. If you were the better team, you wouldn't have been having to make up some dumb excuse for losing because you would have been heading to the NFC Championship Game.

I'm not a Cowboys or Giants fan. I believe that the better team always manages to win. Whichever team keeps their composure normally pulls out, but i can't disagree with Philips saying the better team lost because he's trying to show confidence in his team, even though there's nothing he can do to change the outcome now. He should have made changes in the game and pulled out the win.

I think we can all pretty much agree that the packers, patriots, and cowboys are all more talented than the g-men and if they played in a 4 win series like in the NBA, the other teams would probably win. But this is the NFL and the g-men played with more heart and more hunger, so they won.



As of Wades comments they were completley out of line and very classless, he should have just accepted losing like a man.

I'm a Cowboys fan and will admit the better team won... too many stupid mistakes penalties everything that helps u lose a game dallas did it... I mean they're still my team win or lose but Ill admit the better team won!!

Packer fan here. I will say that during the season, the Packers and Cowgirls were better than the Giants. But on those days, the Giants were better....that's all that matters in the post-season...they flat-out out-played every team in the post-season.

That's just his opinion. I'm a fan of neither team...the better team is the one that wins, period. No excuses, especially if you have home field advantage.



Records don't matter in the playoffs...once it starts everybody is 0-0. If anything, good records hurt a team (Patriots) because they think they're too good to play any other team.
