2008 Mock Draft:
1. Miami - Jake Long, Tackle: Miama puts their luck in Matt Ryan and hopes he becomes a franchise QB. Long solidifies the line for years to come.
2. St. Louis - Chris Long, DE: Along with Adam Carriker, they become a great pass rushing DLine in a single pick.
3. Atlanta - Sedrick Ellis, DT: The DLine is cemented with this pick. He becomes a natural monster in the middle.
4. Oakland - Darren McFadden, RB: Justin Fargas is a really good runner, but McFadden can prove to be a great asset in the run game, plus, with Al Davis, he drafts "speed" over "need."
5. Kansas City - Matt Ryan, QB: Solid performance and a great pro-day give the Ravens something to drool at too, but they already have a starter in Troy Smith. That's right, Troy Smith will start for the Ravens. Book it.
6. New York Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE: They have been set to pick this guys for forever now.
7. New England - Domnique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB: Spelling might be off, but his game is definitely on. He makes plays, and has the skills to be a great NFL corner.
8. Baltimore - Mike Jenkins, CB: Starts as a nickel from day 1, possibly replacing Rolle if he goes down.
9. Cincinnati - Glenn Dorsey, DT: Dorsey can solidify their DLine for many years to come.
10. New Orleans - Keith Rivers, OLB: A prospect that will definitely make the Linebackers the strongest part of the Saints Defense, but only if Morgan can stay healthy.
11. Buffalo - Leodis McClevin, CB: Finally the replacement for Nate Clemens. If Keith Rivers drops, expect him to get snagged here...but he won't.
12. Denver - Ryan Clady, Tackle: After the retirement of their LT, they get someone new to replace him.
13. Carolina - Chris Williams, Tackle: Carolina needs OT bad, and since Williams is a man-handling Tackle, their run type offense will benefit.
14. Chicago - Jeff Otah, Tackle: The Bears have a crappy defense, and it all starts in the trenches.
15. Detroit - Rashard Mendenhall, RB: With Kevin Jones gone, and Tatum Bell obviously not starter material, Mendenhall is an easy pick.
16. Arizona - Antoine Cason, CB: I think all the weapons on Offense are fine, but they need someone to counter a very, VERY streaky Rolle.
17. Minnesota - Derrick Harvey, DE:The Gator native helps rush and protect the run. He's easily the second best DE in the draft.
18. Houston - Aqib Talib, CB: After Dunta Robinson's injury, they need the next best corner in the draft. Aqib is still here.
19. Philadelphia - Malcolm Kelly, WR: McNabb is asking for help. The Eagles pushed for both Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald in the Offseason. There are no linemen worth picking this late. Take the easy Malcolm Kelly.
20. Tampa Bay - DeSean Jackson, WR: A great prospect at WR. Helps to replace the aging Wideouts.
21. Washington - Limas Sweed, WR: The Skins take someone who can play a good #2-3. The spread offense opens up with the 4 Reciever sets.
22. Dallas - Devin Thomas, WR: Alot of people don't like this pick, along with the fact that Dallas needs a CB. However, all the CB's are second round material now, and they need to go where the Talent is. Plus, with Jerry Jones at the helm, he could pick anybody.
23. Pittsburgh - Branden Albert, Guard: The first guard to go. He replaces Faneca on the line, and also provides depth across the trenches if someone goes down.
24. Tennessee - James Hardy, WR: A steal. He provides the target Vince Young has wanted now. Plus, he brings TALENT. Something the Tenn. offense kinda lacks.
25. Seattle - Fred Davis, TE: I read this pick on someone else's Mock and really liked it. Their Offense is aging, and the defense is solid. Pick TE and give Hasselbeck a dependable target.
26. Jacksonville - Kentwan Balmer, DT: A great prospect at Tackle. Shows the obvious play and talent that can easily replace the gap that Stroud left. (And that's a big, big gap)
27. San Diego - Reggie Smith, CB and/or S: Can adjust to two different needs that present themselves to the Bolts. Smith goes here.
28. Dallas - Tracy Porter, CB: Not exactly a great pick, but after the 1st Round starts coming to an end, they go with the most glaring need and best player at the position. Porter is that option.
29. San Francisco - Gosder Cherilus, T: Maybe Alex Smith's issue is he has a bad line! So let's draft him a Tackle. This gives two great Tackles to lock down DEnds for years...Maybe Alex Smith is just a bad Quaterback?
30. Green Bay - Philip Merling, DE: After falling this far, Green Bay takes the best possibly player.
31. New York Giants - Dan Conner, ILB: I love this pick. He gives depth and can also play outside, which gives the Linebackers a solid starting 3. If they want, they can even send Mithias Kiwanuka back on the ground, and start Connor at Strong Side. This would be optimal, giving the possibility of Strahan retiring.
