That the Giants are going to Suber Bowl, nonetheless the Playoffs??? With Strahan Out, who was not only a playmaker he was the emotional captain on the team. Plaxico wants a new contract, and who knows what the hell Shockey wants. What will they do this year and why????

first of all im not a giant fan,

since strhan retired they are going to lose a lot of the sacks that they had last year i think they had 53 sacks last year and they wont match that because they dont have a sack machine like strahan

shockey and plaxico are creating problems and are distracting hte team i think the giants should trade them and move on

the giants will not win another superbowl this year for sure

History does show that Super Bowl teams are unlikely to return to the playoffs the following season. In 1999, both Atlanta and Denver missed the playoffs. In 2000, Tennessee and St. Louis were both out before the championship game. In 2001, the Giants missed the playoffs and the Ravens were knocked out prior to the championship game. In 2002, the Patriots and Rams both missed the playoffs. In 2003, the Bucs and Raiders both missed. In 2004, the Panthers missed and the Patriots repeated. In 2005, the Patriots missed the championship game and the Eagles missed the playoffs. In 2006, the Steelers missed the playoffs and the Seahawks missed the championship game. In 2007, the Bears missed the playoffs and the Colts missed the championship game.

I think the AFC Championship will come down to Baltimore and San Diego this year (unlike last year, the Ravens receivers and DBs will stay healthy). I see the NFC Championship coming down to Dallas and Carolina (the Panthers, like the Ravens, are due to finally stop underachieving).

I don't think the Giants will make the playoffs and I expect the Patriots to be 1-and-done.

What Giants fans are going around saying we're on our way to the Super Bowl?

As a fan, I'd like to see them go but it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY, not impossible but just unlikely. They are still contenders for the division title, which means they are good enough to make the playoffs. As far as I'm concerned, if ur a playoff caliber team, all bets are off.

They will have to make up for Strahan's leadership and the occasional double teams he commanded. That means Osi, Tuck, Kiwanuka, Wynn, and their defensive tackles will have to step it up a little. One guy will not take his place but a group effort has to be made.

As far as the locker room is concerned, there were other leaders in that room besides Strahan. Amani Toomer is no kid, Antonio Pierce is a vocal leader as well.

The questions New York must answer: Will Kenny Phillips pan out? Will they find depth at linebacker? Will Shockey suck it up and fall in line? And will Eli limit his turnovers during the season?

If they answer all of those questions in the affirmative, they are playoff bound. If not, the last 6 games of the season will be even more critical. I see them going 11-5 as a wildcard team.

The English (like Germans) are generally much less expressive. It probably comes from a rich history of accomplishments and empire. This general disposition can explain why English fans are like that. It often takes pints of beer (after the match) and some instigation by other fans to get them express passion. Passion is more a synonym to the French, Spanish, Greek, Portuguese, Dutch--than the English or Germans. It shows in the style of football played too. The samba, leg-overs, individual skills and all such that express passion and make the fans go wild--are only mildly tolerated in the English game. The focus is on result. However, I think that should change. Football is as much entertainment as it is a sport, a product or a contest. Every pass, every dribble, every kick should evince passion. One of the very few things that England has to learn from the rest of the world. Good question.
