With more college teams recruiting spread option type QB's, it has to happen sooner or later.

It is. Watch the DOLPHINS play. You get a QB that can run like a RB, It's money. I've always been a fan of the shotgun / trap / option / throw. QB's need to watch out. There will be no need for a a true QB, It'll be a RB that can throw.......

I think it depends on the type of spread offense you are talking about. Rich Rodriguez's spread offense wouldnt work very well cause NFL defenses are too good and fast to let a team run all over them to win games week after week. Now the Patriots have a more passing spread offense that I think you may see more teams starting to run cause the pass is alot harder to defend than the run.

However, passing the ball 40-50 times a game may be alright in college, where the season is around 12-13 games, and the normal quarterback plays maybe 50 games max over his college career. A NFL quarterback may play 200 games in his career, and running that spread offense, you have to wonder if he will get tired and start to wear down. I truely believe that Brady may wear down over the next few years if the Patriots keep throwing the ball as much as they do.

If you are talking about having a few option plays sure....if u r talking about using it as part of the philosophy of the game plan no way....LOL Payton Manning running the spread option....it wouldnt work NO WAY...vince young could run it but the intelligence standars of the defence in the NFL is way higher than in college.....but as a surprise trick play sure ithink it would work 1 or 2 times

doubt it. qb's wouldnt last long in the nfl. however, ive seen some teams this year run the option with the running back taking the snap optioning to another running back. the dolphins did it to the chargers, they called it there wildcat formation if i remember correctly. i also saw the raiders do it with mcfadden taking the snap.

The NFL season is too long and QB's would get run down and injured. The NFL is too fast sideline to sideline.
