There are 4 stars below the "C" on a football uniform. I assume the C is for Captain but I'm not sure what the stars mean. Also, depending on the player, the stars are shaded in. Sometimes 1,2 and 3 stars are shaded in but I don't believe I've ever seen a 4 star player.

The C patch stands for captain and the number of gold stars under the C represents how many years that player has been elected captain. If you see 3 gold stars then that means that player has been elected a captain 3 times.

The C patch is the Team Captain Patch. The team and the coaches decide who gets the patch. The first year you get designated Captain, you get the patch with 4 white stars. The second year you're captain, one star becomes gold and 3 stays white. (3 years Captain, you get the patch plus 2 gold stars and 2 white stars.). This is only the third year this official designation has existed, so no one has a patch with more than 2 gold stars.

No official ruling has been made yet as to what happens when someone gets designated Captain for 6 years.

Being designated Captain has it's perks and responsibilities. Among these, and could be the most important, is that only a team member that's a Captain are allowed talk to the game officials.

Yes the C is for captain and they get a 'gold star' for every year. This is the third year the league has had them so there are no four star generals at this point

I believe it represents the years they have been captain, with anything over 4 being 4 stars
