Question:
Does it bother anyone else how Giants fans are SO in love with Eli Manning now?

I mean for years they have been complaining about the guy and talking how they thought he was a bust and wanted someone else and how he would never be Peyton. I always felt bad for Eli because of that and always wished he'd do well, but how hypocritical people are about makes me sick. Just a little tidbit for Giants fans... Eli blew the superbowl TWICE in "THE DRIVE". He threw TWO game ending interceptions to Asante Samuel that were just simply dropped. He also put himself into a position to get sacked BIG TIME only to escape... alot of people think that was very impressive, but Kyle Boller and AJ Feely did the same thing to the Pats in the regular season. It'll be interesting to see if Eli struggles and if he is still everyone in New York's hero.

No, he won a Super Bowl for the New York Giants. Before that Eli was consistently inconsistent showing flashes of brilliance then doing something boneheaded. During the Giants run to the Super Bowl he played at a higher level than he had previously. The Giants fans have always embraced Eli thye just want him to play like its the 4th quarter all the time.

For once dude, I agree with you. Some of these Eli fans are just bandwagoners alot like a lot of Pats fans right now. But at the same time, look at it from this point of view. Pretend for a minute your a Giants fan and this guy who you thought sucked just took out the powerhouse of the League in the Superbowl. You gotta admit, he did play good in the postseason. I still dont think Eli is the same Caliber as his brother, at least not consistenly. But he will always be remembered and loved as the guy to lead the only team to beat the pats in 08.

Yup, I can't say anything because he just did plain good in the playoffs, wich led to them winning the super bowl. But it does bother me that people are on Eli's nuts after he got his **** together for a few games in a row, and got the big win. As a Patriots fan though, they don't have too much **** to talk about us so I have never really debated/argued with a Eli fan on the skill level of their team and/or QB.

As for the two picks and sack thing, yeah he made two "game ending" drops, but these things happen. The Best players in NFL can manage to play the same way in the Post season, that made people respect them in the regular. I have a feeling that if Law were place in the same situations, he would have been able to get those picks. But we don't have to try to down the fact they they beat us. They won, so we just have to accept it, move on, and get ready to see Eli hit the dirt ALOT next season.

I will say this though, is Eli can play to his full potentiol CONSISTENTLY he can join the Tom Brady and Eli Manning level.

Man you dont know how much I agree with what you said. To me Eli is still a bust. In the regular season he threw 20 ints(most in the NFL) and lost 7 fumbles(2nd most in the NFL). He only had a +3 td-int ratio and his 3336 passing yards were less than Kurt Warner and only 12 more yds than Donovan McNabb, both of whom only played 14 games. Even the throw to Tyree in the Super Bowl was terrible, it was a great catch. To me, hes no better than Brad Johnson or Trent Dilfer when they won their Super Bowls. They did the same thing Eli did, rode their defense to the title. The Giants defense will have to carry the team again and he will continue to struggle. Ill say this year Eli will have about 3450 passing yds, 25 tds and 19 ints. A little better than last year but still nowhere close to being a top 10 QB.

MY POINT EXACTLY!!! I've been saying this ever since they won the Super Bowl. Ever since he was drafted up until the playoffs this year Giants fans were calling for his head on a steak. He... excuse me, his defense wins the Super Bowl and suddenly he's the greatest quarterback of all time and they have ALWAYS had faith in him. Giants "fans" are the epitome of fair weather. Do you remember week 17 when they played the Pats in the Meadowlands? When Brady hit Moss deep to break both of their TD records that place erupted with cheers... in the Giants home town... on their own field... their own fans cheered and celebrated not only the record breaking TD pass... but the TD pass that SEALED THE WIN FOR THE PATS. Next thing you know they're in the Super Bowl beating the Pats to end the perfect season and those same fans are suddenly right back on their side cheering them on. It is ridiculous... you wanna talk about a bandwagon. Don't worry though, it will all start up again when Eli has yet another lackluster season ending with a loss in the playoffs, once again everyone will be calling for his head. If I was Eli I would have gotten up on that podium after their Super Bowl parade and told that entire city to kiss my a**.

I get thumbs down for stating fact... I guess I hit a nerve on the Giants "fans".

Well, I don't think he's going to struggle that much. The Eli we say in the playoffs this year was different Eli from when the season started. He was incredibly calm under pressure, accurate on the run, and very smart with the football. He finally matured, and I'm certain that he's going to be a Pro Bowler for years to come from now on.

yea it does bother me. i'm a giants fan and have been my whole life and i've actually been waiting for eli to get a little bit of the spot light. truthfully i think it was because of him that we won the superbowl but he's not the best and he has a lot of work to get to where his brother is. but i don't like when people all they do is trash talk eli. he's actually a good quarterback whos still young and needs a little work. i think eli willl do great this season
2008-05-27 08:19:16 UTC
Yeah it really does kind of annoy me, one time I'll agree with a Patriots fan. Although he deserved MOST of it, I mean the man wanted to be a QB KNOWING how good his brother was, and he was the one who insisted on the draft day trade to New York(with his daddy and big brother backing him up, I'm surprised mommy wasn't there too). If you are going to demand a trade like that with that last name then you better be better then he was. They also wanted Coughlin out and were pretty much calling for his head and blaming everything on him. That's what a Championship will do though. If it was me though I think I'd be trying to get rid of certain big mouths who were out for the whole playoffs, I'd think maybe that person who was likely dividing the locker room was part of the problem.

I'm a Giant's fan. I never was down in Eli. I saw his potential and even though I new he wasn't living up to it. I always thought he would come around. Now about those "interceptions" you were talking about. One of those went through Steve Smith's hand. Hardly Eli's fault. The other int, I don't know what you referring to. As for the "almost" sack. QB's almost get sacked all the time, not sure what the big deal is....

Do you mean Giant Fans or Giant Bandwagons because they two are totally diffrent, i liked Manning before the superbowl and im not even talking about Payton.

Everyone gave him crap, but i seriously didnt think he was that bad.

I would guess most are Bandwagoners

Ya, but i dont think its going to happen again. He might have been New Yorks hero this year, but they wont win another championship for the next 3 years maybe even the next decade, it was just their years this time.

And ya, i didnt hate them before (Disliked them because they beat my rams in superbowl XXXVI) but now i do hate them, because of all the fans that are bandwagons and because of the cheating scandle. And when i say "Hate" i mean it.

Fans are hypocrites PERIOD. they LOVE a player when he WINS. and HATE them when they LOSE. they live their lives vicariously through sports and entertainment stars and if what the star is doing doesn't satisfy their fantasy, then they are hated. Look at these Fair Weather Idiots i deal with down here in Miami. Jason Taylor busts his *** for 12 seasons and got booed and blamed for our teams losses when Jay Feidler threw TD's to the opposing team. management drafted players that aren't even in the league anymore, and now he is being hated for not showing up to VOLUNTARY workouts, which at 34 and the BEST player on our team does not have to do it. people seem to forget that when you get too OLD for the NFL you have to go back into the REAL WORLD. and now people hate jason taylor for accepting offers that he has been turning down for years.

It doesn't bother me, he was doing terrible before. Throwing way too many interceptions and blowing it in the second half of previous seasons. He deserved the critisism he got. He turned it around, and gained their respect rather than them just giving it to him unearned. It was very impressive how he escaped that sack, I hadn't seen anything like that in a superbowl since Steve McNair escaped a sack with two people on his back, only to come up just short in the end. Come up big in clutch situations and you're a hero, its as simple as that, come up short and your looked at with disgust and critisism.

It is funny how one play can erase a QB's career from being a goat to sailing the boat. Eli will just be an average QB that just ran into a string of good luck.
2008-05-27 04:17:39 UTC
You win a championship you become god in this town:

Example: Mark Messier, Joe Torre, Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Willis Reed, Joe Namath, Lawrence Taylor

This city, outside of the Yankees, is pretty title starved...you win a championship you deserve to be loved. Just like Eli Manning.

2008-05-27 11:51:34 UTC
Yea it bothers me.

At first i was pissed cuz he refused to play for the chargers but after seeing how bad he is im happy he went to NY that way he can disappoint NY instead of San Diego. Of course the NY fans will love praise him... he won the superbowl. but every qb has a good game he will go back to sucking
2008-05-27 04:15:15 UTC
I'd say those are called "fair weather fans".

They're all for the idea of getting rid of a player when he does horribly, but when he starts to do well, he's suddenly a "hero". If Eli has a bad season, all these "fair weather fans" will go back to saying he's an untalented mess.

They come with all teams...and they're all equally annoying.
2008-05-27 04:50:11 UTC
yeah, I get that alot because a kid in my neighborhood is a giants fan, so is a kid in my school (i lost a bet to him). Eli is "bad" I will say since I don't want to get reported. He is overrated but give him some credit he will live in his brothers shadow for a big part of his life.

YES!!!

And what bugs me even more is the way they were like fire Coughlin... fire him and then all of a sudden they are like no don't fire him we love him and they give him a huge bonus and contract extension making him one of the top paid coaches.

I am sick of all these bipolar fans who one minute hate a guy and then next minute are like Oh my God I love him.

But hey who knows at this rate Rex Grossman may win a Super Bowl and suddenly all the bears fans will be like I love Rex.

it was/is almost the opposite for Rex Grossman. Everyone loved him in Chicago until he threw 3 INT's in the super bowl.

YES. History shows that he is inconsistent, so he's probably going to be inconsistent

Giants fans in general are bothersome

Yes. I have always found it interesting how if a team wins there is so much praise and I told you so's. I always love to mess with people who suddenly become fans of whatever team is winning.

are you still mad that your team completely blew a perfect season because yuor offensive line sucked?
