Ok, so I'm 5'11, 147 lbs, and 14. I am going to keep growing. I like playing wide receiver better than tight end but i am built like a tight end like more muscle and build than most wide receivers. So am I to big and tall to play wide receiver.

You're already tall. If you're interested in maximizing your growth, then take a look at the following scientific information.

There are several nutritional tips and techniques to maximize height up until our bones quit growing around age 20. Here are the most important tips, followed by supporting clinical evidence.

1) Take a daily multivitamin with micronutrients. See below for recommended micronutrients to improve height.

2) Take 1000mg (1g) of calcium carbonate supplement daily.

3) Take 3g of GABA (an inexpensive amino acid supplement) at least once daily to quadruple baseline growth hormone levels.

4) Engage in regular low-risk vibrational physical activity, such as plyometric training, volleyball, basketball, short-to-medium range jogging.

5) Practice meditation for 20-30 minutes regularly around dusk in order to reduce stress and improve hormonal profile for growth (cortisol can inhibit growth).

PubMed primary clinical journal articles:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18091016 - 3g GABA quadruples growth hormone levels.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15755856 - We conclude that calcium carbonate supplementation of adolescent boys increased skeletal growth, resulting in greater stature and bone mineral acquisition.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16426962 - The micronutrient-fortified beverage was beneficial in promoting growth and decreasing duration of common illnesses among middle-class residential schoolchildren who had adequate energy and protein intakes.

Well, I think height does have its advantages. Being tall and playing the WR position helps you because it means you have a longer reach over defenders. Take for instance Vincent Jackson of the Chargers. He is 6-5. 6-5 is a great height for a WR. The other receivers you have named are slightly above average height for the average man but for football those heights are still good enough. My point is, being tall helps. It is not always necessary because even if you are not tall you can still make up for it in other ways such as speed, awareness, ability to catch the ball. But there is no denying that height helps you to have reach over defenders. Without height you do lack the element of being able to not only reach for the ball but make a play. Lets say you are 5-6 and the defender is 6-2. They have an extra edge because of height which means they can intercept the ball easier. But with that said, its not necessary like many say that you have to be tall. Just know its advantages, because it does help. But also know that you can still be a great player if you have raw talent in other ways.

You can never be too tall to be a wide Receiver. The main factor in your case is if you have speed. 147 is a very good weight for your height. If you are fast, I think you have the perfect build to be a good wide receiver.

well first off youre NEVER too tall to play receiver. The taller, the better... 147 is a very good place to be for a 14 year old, especially a 14 year old receiver. youve got perfect physique, kinda like Vincent Jackson: Big, tall and physical. Definitely go for receiver. your quarterback will love you because all he has to do is toss it up and you'll be there for the grab.

Plaxico Burress was a massive 6 foot 6, 235 lbs, and he was one of the best receivers in the game when he shot himself, maybe even top 3. He was a beast. So certainly size shouldn't stop you. If anything it should be an advantage. Plaxico knew how to use his size perfectly though, and that's what you have to do. Force the back into a jump ball situation as much as you can, and learn how to use your long legs as a speed advantage. Study Plaxico and other big men, to learn how to paly like a big man. And when i say I want you to be just like Plax, I mean strictly ON THE FIELD, not off it. Don't go shooting yourself now.

Do not worry about being to big or tall. etc.

Sport with some common sense, do not over use your body right now.

Everybody has a natural `best` thing they can do. Try to focus on the basics.

Agility and speed are always first. Strength is better trained up later.

Get good running shoes and run and stretch, stretch and run, etc.

If you really want to add upper torso strength, do natural things like, push ups, Pull ups,

and get a boxing bag, a big heavy one to punch against. That will give you godlike arms.

success and please do not get injured.

At 14, you are very likely to grow more.

But at that age, you can probably play almost ANY position, and you should play as many as you CAN. You will learn more about the game, if you DO, too.

Your Coach's job is to evaluate your skills & abilities.

He may want to try you at different positions.

Be as good as you can, at as many as you can.

Your chances of playing go up, with the more you can do.

You need to play where you are needed to play, not necessarily where you WANT to play.

Height is really good for a receiver. If you're fast you can become a mismatch with the DBs. Try getting bigger though. Like at least 25lbs bigger.

heck no brother, you want to be tall because it gives the QB a safe target to hit, think about it, if you're taller than the DB, you'll get the high ball everytime! Just work on your speed, WR is a much faster postition than TE.
